FOLSOM - Facing the No. 2-ranked team in California, the Folsom Lake College men's soccer team used a late goal by sophomore Chase Gray - his second of the match - to help the Falcons earn a 2-2 tie with Fresno City College on Friday afternoon at Falcon Stadium.
The nonconference match was a back-and-forth affair with the two teams trading goals after Fresno first scored in the 41st minute on an unassisted goal from Manuel Lopez. Chase Gray got the Falcons on the board early in the second half with his first goal, making it 1-1, in the 53rd minute. When the Rams took the lead through the second half with Eduardo Segura's score in the 75th minute, the outcome did not look positive for the Falcons. But Gray found the net with just two minutes to play to give his team the hard-earned draw.
The Falcons improved to 12-2-3 overall, but more importantly, proved they could play with any team in the state. They have a bye on Tuesday, but will return to Big 8 action on Friday when they travel to Modesto. Fresno picked up its sixth tie of the season to move to 9-1-6.
