Diablo Valley’s Clark-James, Foothill’s Given Named 3CFCA State Players of the Week

The California Community College Football Coaches Association (3CFCA) has named Diablo Valley College quarterback Darius Clark-James the State Offensive Player of the Week and Foothill College defensive lineman Ryan Given its State Defensive Player of the Week for Week 3.

Clark-James helped lead previously No. 8 state-ranked DVC to a 31-24 win over then No. 1 Modesto on Saturday. He completed 15 of 21 passes for 193 yards and one passing TD. Clark-James also had 14 rushes for 30 yards with a TD.

Clark-James is a sophomore originally out of C.E. King High School in Houston, Texas.

Given was a force on defense in Foothill's 48-22 over Reedley. He totaled three sacks, four tackles for loss, had a forced fumble and recovery, and was credited with a quarterback hurry.

Given is a freshman from Pioneer High School in San Jose.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION (SCFA) PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Offensive: Kane Richardson, QB, San Bernardino Valley
Richardson played a huge role in SBVC's big win over Compton. He accounted for 38 points as he threw a pair of touchdown passes, rushed for 3 TDs, and totaled 4 two-point PAT conversions. Richardson completed 10 of 13 passes for 158 yards with 2 TDs, had 8 carries for 79 yards with 3 TDs, and completed 2 passing and 2 rushing PATs.

Defensive: Arden Benson, LB, Fullerton
Benson was all over the field, leading the Hornets with 14 total tackles (10 solo) to go along with a forced fumble against Saddleback.

Special Teams/All-Purpose: Latavion Lispcomb, WR/KR, Victor Valley
Lispcomb had 3 kick returns for 118 yards, including a 90-yard kick return for a touchdown. He also totaled 6 receptions for 51 yards.

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA FOOTBALL CONFERENCE (NCFC) PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

American Division Offensive: Beau Devens, Shasta, QB
Devens had best finest game of the season, leading Shasta to a 35-10 win at Los Medanos. He completed 23 of 28 passes for 247 yards and 3 TDs. Devens also totaled 7 carries for 29 yards and a rushing TD.

American Division Defensive: Coy Jordan, Cabrillo, DB
Jordan led the Cabrillo defense in the Seahawks' 21-19 win against Contra Costa. He led all with 15 tackles and added a tackle for loss and a pass breakup.
