3C2A Football Regional matchups announced; Complete bowl lineup set

SACRAMENTO - Playoff matchups for the 2024 3C2A Football Championship have been set while a complete bowl game lineup is now available, it was announced on Sunday.

Four teams from the Northern California Football Conference and four from the Southern California Football Association will begin their quest for a state championship with regional semifinal games next Saturday. In the NCFC, third-seeded Fresno City (8-2) will visit second-seeded Modesto (8-2) while fourth-seeded American River (7-3) travels to face top-seeded College of San Mateo (9-1). The SCFA regional semifinals will have third-seeded San Diego Mesa (8-2) traveling to second-seeded Riverside City (9-1), and top-seeded Mt. San Antonio (10-0) hosting fourth-seeded El Camino (7-3).

The regional finals in both the north and the south will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the site of the higher seed with a berth in the state championship game on Dec. 14 on the line. The Northern California champion will host this year's title matchup. Riverside City edged San Mateo, 24-21, in a thriller last year in Riverside for the 2023 championship.

Additonally, a complete lineup of bowl games will fill Thanksgiving week and extend through Dec. 7. The NCFC announced matchups for the Pepsi Sequoia Golden State Bowl, Grizzly Bowl, Northern California Bowl, Gridiron Classic Bowl and Golden Valley Bowl, while its American Division Championship Bowl is set for Dec. 7 between unbeaten De Anza (10-0) and Monterey Peninsula (10-0). The SCFA announced its bowl lineup last week with competition starting on Sunday. Golden West beat Allan Hancock, 28-7, in the Southern California Bowl while College of the Canyons downed Mt. San Jacinto, 26-21, in the Valencia Bowl.
