CCCAA Football Championship to be televised nationally by Eleven Sports
September 20, 2018
SACRAMENTO, CALIF. - The California Community College Athletic Association Football Championship, which will pair the northern and southern California champions at Hughes Stadium in Sacramento on Dec. 8, will be broadcast to a nationwide television audience by Eleven Sports, it was announced on Wednesday.
The game will be produced in high-definition by Bay Area Online Sports Network and will also be available online through the CCCAA’s official website, www.cccaasports.org. Eleven Sports’ network broadcasts sports on three continents and is currently broadcasting college football in the United States, including those in the NCAA Div. I Big Sky Conference.
“This is a tremendous platform for both our highly talented football programs and for the opportunities provided by our 108 California community colleges that participate in intercollegiate athletics,” said Carlyle Carter, CEO/President of the CCCAA. “We’re excited to be able to showcase the CCCAA to a national television audience.”
The CCCAA has been sponsoring a football championship annually since 1997. It played its first title game in 1967 before later taking a 24-year break. Fullerton College, currently ranked No. 1 in both the California Community College Sports Information Association and JC Athletic Bureau Coaches polls, is two-time defending champion and is currently riding a 22-game winning streak.
The Hornets edged the College of San Mateo - whose home games this season are being aired by Eleven Sports - in last year’s state championship at Hughes Stadium, 16-12.
“Eleven Sports is pleased to be broadcasting the CCCAA Football Championship to a national audience”, said Steve Hurlbut, Vice President, Production and Programming. “Building on our regular-season CCCAA coverage, we’re able to provide unprecedented exposure for the Association, highlighting the outstanding competitive level of CCCAA Football.”
ELEVEN SPORTS USA is available on national cable systems such as DirecTV (channel 623), AT&T U-verse (channel 1665), and Verizon Fios (channel 597).
