ARC & FULLERTON WIN REGIONAL FOOTBALL TITLES; TO MEET DEC. 10 FOR CCCAA STATE CROWN
Fullerton College will host American River College for the 2016 California Community College Athletic Association football championship on Saturday, Dec. 10 in a battle of region champions.
Following a half hour midgame lightning delay, host and top-seeded Fullerton (11-1) scored 21 third quarter points for a 36-20 advantage en route to a 45-29 victory over No. 2 Riverside City College (10-2) in the Southern California Football Association title game. Fullerton had taken a 15-13 halftime lead on a 54-yard punt return by Justin Manyweather just two minutes before the intermission and never relinquished the advantage. Gerald Hulett rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Hornets.
In Saturday’s lone bowl game, host Monterey Peninsula College (10-1) won the Living Breath Foundation Bowl, 28-21 over Los Medanos College (8-3), in Salinas. MPC quarterback Kody Steele rushed for three scores and passed for 278 yards (301 total offense).
