FOLSOM - Cole Tremain’s two-out double in the right-field gap scored Logan Sutter with the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth to give host Folsom Lake an 11-10 marathon win over Palomar College in the first elimination game of the 2022 California Community College Athletic Association Baseball State Championships on Sunday at The Lake.
The game-winning run capped an exhausting 4-hour, 9-minute game that saw the Falcons (39-7-1) survive to the second elimination game, slated for Sunday evening, while the loss puts a heartbreaking period on an outstanding season for the Comets (37-13), who honored their late coach Bob Vetter, who passed away. earlier this year.

A two-run home run by JT Waldon pulled the Falcons closer at 10-9 in the bottom of the sixth before Tremain tied the game in the bottom of the eighth with a solo shot over the left-center field fence, knotting the score at 10.
Comet closer Austin Schroeder (1-2) was extended for more than an inning for the first time all season and in the ninth, a one-out walk by Sutter was followed with Tremain’s game-winning hit to right-centerfield.
In addition to his offensive heroics, Tremain also picked up the win by getting the final two outs in the top of the ninth, improving his record to 2-0.
Waldon finished the game 2-for-4 with a run scored and four RBI for the Falcons, while Bauser added two hits, scored three runs, and added an RBI.
