El Camino keeps winning, Santa Rosa moves into top three of baseball poll
PASADENA, Calif. - Continuing its winning streak at 20 games, El Camino (28-2) stays No. 1 in the California Community College Sports Information Association State Top 20 Baseball poll for the second straight week. Orange Coast (23-5) was just five points behind ECC in the voting of conference SIDs.
Santa Rosa (23-5) moved into No. 3 to switch places with new No. 4 Sacramento City (22-7). There was very little movement in the rest of the top 10 with the only change being Glendale (24-5-1), undefeated at 10-0-1 in its last 11 games, moving up two places to No. 10.
Going into April 6 games, the conference races are as follows:
El Camino tops the South Coast South with an impressive 5-game lead over Long Beach City.
Orange Coast is tied with No. 6 Riverside (22-8) to lead the Orange Empire race. The pair opened a 3-game lead over unranked Golden West and 4 games over No. 12 Cypress, No. 16 Saddleback and No. 19 Santa Ana.
Santa Rosa and Sacramento are tied for the Big 8 top spot. No. 8 San Joaquin Delta is 4 wins back.
No. 5 Ohlone (27-3) is 1 game ahead of No. 15 Cabrillo and 2 games in front of newly ranked at No. 17 Skyline in the Coast Pacific.
No. 7 San Mateo has taken a 2-game lead in the Coast Golden Gate standings.
No. 9 Palomar is 3 games back of the win column behind No. 11 Grossmont in the PCAC race.
No. 10 Glendale continues to hold a slim half-game lead over No. 14 Canyons in the Western State East.
No. 18 Merced leads the Central Valley standings by 4 games over unranked Sequoias and 5 ahead of No. 13 Fresno City, a team that is just 4-6 in its last 10 contests.
Unranked Pasadena City held a half-game lead over both new No. 20 Chaffey and Rio Hondo in the South Coast North.
Outside of the Top 20
Dropping from No. 17 to off the rankings this week, LA Mission has a 2-game lead in the win column over LA Pierce and Bakersfield to top the Western State South.
Los Medanos, Marin, and Laney are happy to share 1st place in the Bay Valley standings for another week.
Feather River was 3 games ahead in the win column to top the Golden Valley.
Santa Barbara City and Cuesta were tied for 1st in the WSC North just a half game ahead of Moorpark.
