Big 17-game win streak fuels El Camino's ascent in baseball poll

PASADENA, Calif. - El Camino (25-2) carries a 17-game win streak into taking over the No. 1 ranking in this week's California Community College Sports Information Association State Top 20 Baseball poll. Previous No. 1 and now No. 2 Orange Coast (21-4) was only three points behind ECC in the voting of conference SIDs.
Sacramento City (20-6) jumped five places to grab the No. 3 spot over No. 4 Santa Rosa JC (20-5). Ohlone (24-3) stayed in the No. 5 slot while Riverside City (20-7) climbs six spots from last week to enter the top 10 at No. 6. San Mateo holds on to No. 7, San Joaquin Delta falls to No. 8, Palomar remains No. 9, and Cypress drops four spots to No. 10.
Going into March 30 games, the conference races are as follows:
El Camino tops the South Coast South by a commanding five games over both Long Beach City and LA Harbor.
Orange Coast is tied with Riverside for the top spot in the powerful Orange Empire. Cypress is in a 3-way tie for third with No. 19 Saddleback and Golden West.
Sacramento has a one game lead over Santa Rosa in the super competitive Big 8. Delta is percentage points behind No. 13 Cosumnes River for the third and fourth places.
No. 11 Grossmont has a half-game lead over Palomar in the PCAC standings.
Ohlone and newly ranked at No. 16 Cabrillo are tied for the Coast Pacific lead.
San Mateo holds a 1-1/2 games lead over De Anza in the Coast Golden Gate race.
No. 12 Glendale was just a half-game back of newly ranked No. 15 Canyons in the Western State East
Newly rated No. 20 Merced leads the Central Valley over No. 18 Sequoias by one game and by 2-1/2 games over No. 14 Fresno City.
No. 17 LA Mission has a 3-game lead in the win column over LA Pierce to top the Western State South.
The Unranked Unit
Pasadena City is tied with Chaffey in the South Coast North, both just one game over both East Los Angeles and Rio Hondo.
Los Medanos, Marin, and Laney continue their logjam in 1st place of the Bay Valley standings.
Feather River held a 2-game lead in the win column to top the Golden Valley.
Despite a 12-15 overall record, Cuesta had a one game lead over Moorpark and Santa Barbara City in the WSC North.
