Vikings open 2019 beach volleyball season with 3-2 win over Feather River
SARATOGA - The West Valley beach volleyball team opened the 2019 season Friday with a 3-2 win over perennial NorCal power Feather River at the Viking Beach Volleyball Complex.
Viking 1's Mapuhola Sekona and Kaylin Henderson closed out the day with a 21-15, 21-14 match-clincher against Eagles Chloe Hampton and Mere Nagase. Earlier, WVC 4's Claire Danna and Gabriela Valencia swept FRC's Lauren Erickson and Delaney Gill 21-9, 21-12, but it was Shannon Greeneand Mii Vuong's 21-12, 22-20 nail-biter over Feather River's Brandee Burton and Dannika Day that proved to be the difference in the match.
FRC's Madison Howard and Jillian Wright swept WVC's Rene Wash and Kayla Keller 21-13, 21-10 in the 2's and Aurora Caries and Arizona Webb held off Vikings Hannah Reynoso and Katrina Hochmuth 21-16, 21-17 in the 3's.
