Bakersfield Remains Undefeated with a Draw against Ventura

BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Bakersfield College women's soccer team opened up the evening with not a single loss on the season yet. A combative 90-minute game ended with a 2-2 draw against the Ventura College Pirates on a Friday early evening game.

The Pirates got on the board first within the first few minutes of the game. BC knew they had to step up their defense to keep VC from scoring another goal. The Gades offense struggled in the first 45 minutes, but goalkeeper Katelyn Gonzalez's defense assisted from Ventura adding another goal and ended the half with a total of six saves.

Into the second half at the 50th minute Ventura went ahead 2-0. BC kept pushing forward and eventually got on the board at the 66th minute. Forward Crystal Ramos Rosales gave Bakersfield the much-needed confidence to stay in the game. A couple of chances came from the Renegades to try for the equalizer, but they were nearly missed until the 80th minute and BC was given a penalty kick.  Midfielder Olga Amador was trusted by her teammates to lift her team from losing their first game and still reamin undefeated on the season.

With the tie, BC ends the night 5-0-2. The team will play one more home game before heading out for the road. Tuesday, September 27th they will take on Antelope Valley at 4:00pm
