WOMEN'S WATER POLO: THIRD QUARTER TAKEOVER

The Hornets traveled to district-rival Cypress College on Wednesday and handled the Chargers 16-7.

The win helps keep Fullerton in the conference title race after taking their first loss of the season against Riverside City College last week.

Cypress opened up the game scoring the first goal, but FC went on to score four consecutive times taking a 4-2 lead by the end of the first quarter.

Both teams exchanged an equal amount of goals in the second quarter at three apiece. The score was a close 7-5 by halftime.

Everything turned in the Hornet's favor in the third quarter as their defense completely shut out the Chargers. FC went on to score 6 unanswered goals giving them a healthy 13-5 lead by the beginning of the fourth quarter.

In the final quarter, Fullerton out-shot Cypress 3-2 earning their first conference win of the season.

Fullerton's Bryanna Santis led all scorers with 5 goals, and Alexandra Lopez followed with 4 of her own. Diana Leivas helped out with 3 goals and Jessica Contreras chipped in with 2.

FC goalie Tatiana Cava had 6 saves on the day. 

Up Next: FC (5-1 overall, 1-1 OEC) will play in the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament September 21-22.
