When placekicker Kevin McCollum connected on a 36-yard field goal in the first quarter against Chaffey Saturday, the GCC football team was in good spirits trailing only 7-3 at that point. But it would be downhill for the rest of the contest as the host Panthers piled on 49 unanswered points to win going away 56-3 to drop to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in American Division Pacific Conference play.

The Vaquero struggled on both sides of the ball as they amassed only 160 yards of total offense while Chaffey accounted for 493 on the ground and in the air. Starter Nathan Eldridge passed for 81 yards on 8 of 17 and Elijah Washington was the leading rusher and receiver with 73 total yards. Defensively Michael Stanford had 12 tackles, seven solo and Christian Alvarez added nine.

Glendale hosts Compton College Saturday Oct. 19 at 1 pm at Sartoris Field in a Pacific Conference matchup.
