Compton Baseball Honors Veterans During Military Appreciation Game

Compton, Calif. – Sophomore Doug Allen batted a double in the ninth inning giving sophomore Michael Pagan the opportunity to bring in the only scored run of the game for the Tartars. Compton (3-18, 0-7 SCC) avoided the shut out but loss to Mt. San Antonio (13-8, 4-6 SCC) 16-1.

Sophomore Michael Fletcher was the starting pitcher for the Tartars. He struck out two batters and allowed 11 hits and nine runs in his six innings of work on the mound. Freshman Alberto Gonzales came in as the relief pitcher in the seventh inning. He struck out two batters and only allowed one hit.

Compton Baseball also took the time to honor Veterans from Compton College during the Military Appreciation Game. Amankwa McKinzie and Detective Cervantes threw out the ceremonial first pitch and proudly wore military green long sleeves along side the athletes and coaches.

Compton is scheduled to play the third game of the Mt. San Antonio series on Saturday March 14 with a 12 p.m. start time.
