WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: LA VALLEY TOURNAMENT

Fullerton took part in the LA Valley Tournament this past weekend winning one out of three games.

On Friday, the Hornets played against the College of San Francisco and fell 70-62 after leading a majority if the game. The last five minutes of the game did not go in FC's favor as the Rams tied it up at 53-53. CCSF proceeded to go on a 9-2 run with a minute left that took the game away from Fullerton. Tristian Johns led the Hornets with 17 points and 9 rebounds.

In the second game on Saturday, Fullerton rebounded from the previous let-down scoring a season-high 93 points to San Bernardino Valley's 52. FC took control of the game from the tipoff and never looked back as Moriah Serrano led all scorers with 20 points. Johns put up another 17 points and Jaelyn Alderete scored 13. Lyneya Turner dropped in 12 points and Shenise West scored 10.

In the Third Place game against West Los Angeles College, the Fullerton fell short 51-44. After taking a 13-9 lead by the end of the first quarter, the Hornets found themselves playing catch-up against the Cougars the next three quarters. Free throw shooting was the Achilles Heel for FC as they shot a mere 21.4% (3-14) to West LA's 73.9% (17-23). Hannah Jones turned in a game-high 16 points with 9 boards for Fullerton, while Johns scored 13 points with 7 rebounds. West put up 8 points with 9 rebounds.

Up Next: The Hornets (4-4 overall) will play at the College of the Desert Crossover this weekend (Dec. 14-15). On Friday, FC will play Pasadena City College at 4:00 pm. On Saturday, FC will face off with Copper Mountain College at 2:00 pm.
