Grossmont women's soccer wins another conference home game Tuesday, October 22 (PCAC). The Griffin women defeat Imperial Valley College 5-0, and four different players scored.

#10 Maya Mozo opened the score 1-0 in the 14' of the game, assisted by #22 Clarissa Estrada by way of corner kick. Goal two was scored a minute later.

Arguably the fastest player on the field (toss up with #19 Cassandra Ekwegwo), #2 Merari Chavez scored with another assist by Estrada in the 15' (2-0). This time though, it was a ball played through the opponent's defensive line and sealed by Chavez.

Mozo came through again on a penalty kick for a 3-0 score at the 20 minute mark. That was two goals for Mozo!

4-0 by the infamous #7 Carly Reese. Reese finessed her goal after receiving the ball over the top by #5 Hailey Garrett and taking the goalkeeper on 1v1. Reese totals seven goals and has the only hat trick recorded for the Griffins this season (vs Cuyamaca Oct. 1).

Grossmont's fifth and final goal was at the 35' when #12 Emily Pantoja connected with the ball 25 yards out (5-0). The ball hit the back of the net still carrying momentum. Pantoja was assisted by #9 Juliet Davis.

The game found a scoreless second half, but it shared similar excitement as the first. Coach Aldous swapped positions.

Midfielder by heart #10 Mozo stepped into a defensive position, while defender #6 Lauren Farris stepped into a forward position. Farris nearly scored too, except the goal post got in the way!

Grossmont women's soccer remains 6-2-1 in conference (.722 winning %). They are scheduled to play Palomar College Friday, October 25 at 1:00 p.m. at Grossmont College for their tenth conference game of the season.
