Men's Water Polo Wraps Up Season in Victory Over Fullerton, 23-3

COSTA MESA, CA - The Cypress men's water polo team (12-9, 2-5 OEC) traveled to Orange Coast College for the Orange Empire Conference tournament. The Chargers matched up against Riverside City College in round one where they were defeated 14-7. Cypress would then face Fullerton College in the fifth place game where they dominated the Hornets by a score of 23-3.

The Chargers struggled as a team in Conference play this season, but multiple players put together fantastic individual efforts. The offensive star of the team, Cameron Davidson, led the OEC with 101 goals scored on the year. Davidson also led the Chargers with 32 assists which ranked third in the conference. Minsoo Park had a stellar season defending the net as ranked fourth in the OEC with 105 saves on the season. Justin Wakefield was the defensive specialist for Cypress as he racked up 39 steals on the year which landed him in the top five of the OEC.

As a team Cypress finished the season strong winning seven of their final ten games. On October 15th, they dominated the Santa Monica tournament as they took down Santa Monica (9-7) and El Camino (13-12) in two of the most exciting matches of the year. A few days later the Chargers challenged themselves by taking on four-year college, Westcliff University, where they took the game to overtime, but fell in the match 17-14. The tough competition in the Orange Empire Conference stifled the Chargers for much of the season as they finished in fifth place on the year.
