Bobcats break out of scoring slump

The Saddleback women's soccer team got back to business on Tuesday with a 4-2 win against College of the Canyons inside the Saddleback Stadium.  The four goals from the Bobcats was the highest scoring game of the season so far.

Saddleback had a tough start when they coughed up the ball deep in their own end and Canyons cashed in with a goal in the opening five minutes.  The Bobcats bounced back when Kylie Beu tallied her second goal of the season off a pass from Averee Campos in the 24th minute to tie the score at 1-1.

Canyons again took the lead in the 31st minute when Ryan Sheperd scored to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead.  Less than a minute later Saddleback answered as Lacy Ruston blasted home her first goal of the season off of an inbound pass from Alyssa Sims

The two teams went to half tied at 2-2 despite a huge advantage in shots for the Bobcats.  Saddleback had a 13-4 advantage in total shots and 8-4 advantage in shots on goal, including a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Saddleback started quick in the second half when Lizbeth De Loera scored in the opening minute off a perfect pass from Samantha Villasenor for a 3-2 lead.  The Bobcats would add another goal later in the half when Sims scored her first goal of the season off a corner kick from Zoe Chung for a 4-2 lead in the 66th minute.

Saddleback started Olivia Wynn in goal and Jamie-Lynne Clark played the second half in picking up the win.  The two keepers combined for four saves on the night.

The four goals by Saddleback was the largest output on the season after scoring just two goals in the previous three games.

Saddleback is now 4-1-1 on the season with one non-conference game remaining before heading into Orange Empire Conference play.  The Bobcats will finish the non-conference schedule against Long Beach City College on Friday at 3:00 PM inside the stadium.
