Women's Badminton defeats Compton College 20-1

The SD Mesa women's badminton dominated Compton College 20-1 on Friday. The win gives the Olympians a 3-2 overall record and will face El Camino College on Tuesday to close out the month of March.

The tandem of Erica Garcia Badaracco and Megan Nguyen continue to play well, excelling both in singles and doubles. Freshman Sophia Walton had a great comeback at the number 5 singles spot, bouncing back from one set down for the win. Walton was also paired with Ariana Huerta at #2 doubles and both found instant chemistry with one another.

Ariana Huerta continues her consistent play. 'We know what we're going to get with Ariana," states head coach June Andrews. "She has been consistent all year and she gives her best every game. We are fortunate to have her on the squad."

Becky Lester and Evelyn Dominguez continue to improve and add shots to their repertoire. Even more important, they are continuing to gain confidence and hit the shots that they need to hit.

Despite dropping the point at #3 doubles, Kathy Rodriguez and Alexa Izazaga - Salas continue to compete hard. The improvement that they've shown each game is a good indicator that the team has headed in the right direction.
