COD (2-0) has opened up the 2020 season with a pair of sweeps, hosting the Fullerton Hornets (4-3) at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage and winning easily, 9-0.

In doubles play, the team of freshman Marco Alvarez (Chula Vista Eastlake) and freshman Lucas Hammond (Las Vegas (NV) Nevada Learning Academy at CCSD) had a hard fought match, it was a fun back-and-forth flow eventually won by the home side, 8-4. The team of freshman Luis Mariano Argote (San Diego Grace Christian) and freshman Joshua Wong (Rohnert Park Rancho Cotate) rolled in their match, 8-3 and the team of freshman Danilo Milic (Pacific Palisades Charter) and freshman Carlos Alberto Robles Alvarez (Chula Vista High Tech High) won easily, 8-3.

In singles play, Argote won effortlessly in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1 and Alvarez won 6-3, 6-1. Hammond won in straight sets 6-2, 6-0 and Milic rolled in his straight sets win, 6-0, 6-1. Wong won easily in his first set, 6-0 then rebounded nicely to win in straight sets in set two, 6-3 and Alberto Robles Alvarez had a fight on his hands in set one, 6-3, but crushed his opponent in set two, to win in straight sets, 6-0.

The next match for College of the Desert Men's Tennis will be on the road in Azusa on February 15th at 12p, where they will travel for a non-Conference match on the courts of the Munson and Bavougian Tennis Complex against their NCAA Division 2 opponents, the Azusa Pacific Cougars.

College of the Desert defeated Fullerton College, 9-0 in non-Conference play at Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage.
