Garner & Huddleston have solid game

CRC Hawks (7-9, 1-3) vs. Diablo Valley College (9-7, 2-2)

@ Cosumnes River College

Sacramento, Calif -- The Hawks (7-9, 1-3) have played well at home this season winning 4 of 6 on the year. After two road losses in Big8 conference play, CRC was glad to be back home. Diablo Valley (9-7, 2-2) have lost both road games and won both home games in conference play, so it definitely favored the Hawks to be playing on Clark Court.

The first half was a contest of runs by both teams. Every time the Hawks stretched the lead to 6-8 points on a few occasions, DVC hit some timely threes to get it back to a tie or one possession game. With less than 2 minutes remaining in the half, CRC was up 41-33, but the Vikings went on a 8-0 run to finish the half and tie the game 41-41.

Sophomore guard Terrell Garner and freshman guard Andre Huddleston played very well in this game. Garner finished with a game-high 22 points including four 3pt shots. Huddleston had a career-high 20 points.

Second half was competitive and hard fought. Unfortunately, Diablo Valley's 13 three-point shots may have been the difference in the game. The Hawks got within striking distance by cutting a 10-point deficit with 1:30 left by pressing, causing turnovers, and getting some quick buckets. CRC was within 4 but had to foul to stop the clock. DVC made free-throws and ended up with win 86-80 over Cosumnes River. The Hawks have dropped four straight since their opening night win against Sierra.

The Hawks will focus on finding the winning path @ Modesto 1/14 and vs Sac City 1/17. Both tip off at 7:30pm.
