San Diego City's men's soccer team fell to 0-4 on the season after suffering a 4-1 home loss to No. 1 ranked Cerritos on Tuesday.
Neither team could get anything going offensively in the first 30 minutes of the game, but then in the 34th minute, City goalkeeper Sebastian Guillen was charging to get to a ball near the edge of the box when he made contact with Falcons' forward Armando Ibarra. Cerritos was awarded a penalty kick and Guillen was given the first of four yellow cards for the Knights.
Bryan Ortega converted the penalty kick go give Cerritos the 1-0 lead. Then, in the 44th minute, Ibarra scored off a pass from Bryan Perez to put Cerritos ahead, 2-0.
The Knights got one back in the 64th minute when Jordy Robolledo knocked in a rebound after Neftali Bojorquez' shot from the left side was saved.
The Falcons, who are unbeaten in their last 31 games, took a 3-1 lead 11 minutes later on a goal from Kevin Diaz, and then put the game away with a fourth goal in the 87th minute from Carlos Payeras.
TThe Knights will play two more non-conference games before starting the PCAC season. City will play at Long Beach on Friday at 4 p.m. and will host Santiago Canyon on September 27, also at 4 p.m.
