Women's Soccer Home Opener Ends with a Win

Bakersfield, CA – The Bakersfield College women's soccer team hosted the Porterville Pirates in their 2022 home opener at the BC Soccer Field. The Renegades would take a hold of the game early, often and until the end with a dominant performance winning 8-0 on a toasty Wednesday afternoon.

The Renegades took the first shot of the game with a pentalty kick, unfortunately the ball went over the post but it wouldn't be the only time in the first half the ball would see the goal again. A hydration break at the twenty would give BC the much needed to boost to start getting in their shots. The first shot came from midfielder Olga Amador at the 25th minute, the next goal came five minutes later from freshman Liliana Flores and another just two minutes after from forward Crystal Ramas Rosales. When you thought leading by three points gave Bakersfield a nice cushion over the Pirates they scored two more goals. Flores added another at the 35th minute while Sophomore Alexa Shearer ended the first half leaving her team with a 5-0 lead.

Going into the second half, Flores secured her hat trick for the day with a goal right down the middle. Shortly after freshman Mariah Myers-Caldarella scored her first college goal while Amador got in the final goal of the day to end 8-0

With a home opener win, the Renegades now move on to an overall record 1-0. Up next, the women's soccer team will head out for the road next Friday, September 2 at Merced for a 2pm kickoff.
