In a game devoid of defense for most of the night, a Devante Johnson stop ignited a 12-5 run and propelled the West Valley men's basketball team to an 88-85 win in the Coast Conference opener at De Anza Friday night. Trailing 80-76 with 5:10 left, Johnson blocked Darien Davis's layup attempt and then drained a three at the other end.
