For the second straight game, the West Valley baseball team went into extra innings, but unlike last Saturday's home opener against American River, Tuesday's contest at Hartnell ran out of daylight without a winner. After RBI singles from Hunter Schilperoort and Rich Meyers gave the Vikings a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth, a West Valley E4 handed the Panthers the tying run in the home half of the inning. A scoreless ninth sent the game into the 10th at 3-3 and, with the sun dropping behind the trees in Salinas, the game was suspended. Play will resume with the Vikings at bat in the top of the 10th when Hartnell travels to Saratoga March 1. Starting time to be announced; first pitch for the regularly scheduled game is 2:00pm.
