Tiger Soccer Wins At Cerro Coso

You can chalk up a third straight shutout victory for the Reedley College women's soccer team.

Head Coach Onesta Francis' Lady Tigers improved to 4-1 in the month of September and 5-2 overall with a 2-0 victory in Ridgecrest Sept. 24 over the Cerro Coso College Coyotes.

Destiny Gonzalez scored both goals for Reedley in a two-minute span in the second half. "It was a hard-fought team victory," said Coach Francis. "The first goal was created by Kiki Sunamoto's heroics, taking a big hit from the Cerro Coso goalkeeper to earn a penalty.

"The second goal was set up by Miko Sunamoto, who is leading the team and is second in the conference in assists. Adalene Velasco stepped up defensively with five tackles. Jasmin Elias also played smart defensively, intercepting at least four of their midfield passes.

The Lady Tigers return to the pitch on Oct. 1 as they travel to Santa Maria to face the Allen  Hancock college Bulldogs (3-2-3). it will be the second of four straight road matches for Reedley, who will begin Central Valley Conference action on Oct. 15 at Taft.

The Tigers next scheduled home match is Oct. 18, against the state's top ranked team, the Fresno city College
