Citrus Men's Basketball opened the 2019-20 season with a commanding win over visiting Southern California Regional opponent El Camino on Friday at Citrus College. The Owls beat the Warriors 97-68 in a one-sided victory.
Guard Toby Okwuokei led the Owls offensively, scoring 30 points on 11 for 19 shooting. The sophomore guard was 8 for 12 from downtown and pulled in 5 rebounds. Kendal Frey was the next best scorer with 14, and Jamal Frenchwood scored 12 in his college debut.
The Owls as a team were 50% from the field, and 55% from long range. Citrus out-rebounded El Camino 35-22, and scored 34 points of turnovers on the night.
The guys move to 1-0 to start the year, and they'll suit up again next weekend when they hit the road to San Diego City College for a two day tournament. The Owls will take on Fresno City College to start out the action on Friday at 5:00 PM.
