The Long Beach City College women's basketball team defeated the LA Southwest Cougars 62-52 on Wednesday evening in the Hall of Champions in their first South Coast Conference game. With the win, the Vikings advance to 11-8 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

The Cougars tied the Vikings 13-13 in the first quarter, and then the Vikings slipped ahead by two points at halftime. At the end of the third quarter, the Cougars took back the lead 39-37, but then the Vikings regrouped in the fourth and blasted 25 more points to seal the 62-52 win.

Freshman wing Donavion Huskey nailed the double-double with 25 points and 16 rebounds. Huskey was all over the Cougars as she had five steals, three blocks and three assists.

Freshman point Ivori Scott was a defensive force for the Vikings with 12 rebounds and sophomore guard Isabel Lizarraga totaled 24 points and had five assists, and four rebounds.

The Long Beach City College women's basketball team will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 24 at Cerritos College at 5 p.m.
