Irvine Valley's women's beach volleyball team had another solid showing on a big day at Irvine Valley on Friday.
IVC took on four-year schools Cal State Bakersfield, Santa Clara and Concordia.
The Lasers went 1-2 on the day, but had chances to win each match.
And their No. 3 team of sophomores Anna Unke and Alaine Gendale went unbeaten on the day.
Irvine Valley fell to Cal State Bakersfield, 3-2, in the opening match, getting wins from Unke and Gendale and its No. 5 team of sophomores Truth Hafey and Alma Entesari.
The Lasers came back with a 3-2 win over Santa Clara. They won two of the three contests in three sets.
The IVC top team of sophomores Lea Kruse and Gabriela Griego came through with a 25-23, 14-21, 15-9 win and Hafey and Entesari won, 21-16, 13-21, 15-11. IVC picked up its other win from its No. 3 team of Unke and Gendale.
IVC finished off the day with a 3-2 loss to Concordia.
Kruse and Griego captured a victory on the first court in three sets, 21-17, 19-21, 15-7. Irvine Valley's other victory came from Unke and Gendale in three sets, 21-16, 19-21, 15-13.
IVC's duo of Hafey and Entesari fell in a tough three sets on the fifth court, 15-13, in the third set.
Irvine Valley is back in action next Friday against Orange Coast and Concordia. Play begins at 10 a.m.
