The Irvine Valley women's beach volleyball team defeated Saddleback, 5-0, and then Fullerton, 4-1, in Orange Empire Conference play on Friday at the Laser Beach courts.
IVC moved into sole position of first place in the OEC Eastern Conference with a record of 5-1. The Lasers are 9-10 overall, but eight of those nine losses are to four-year schools.
Irvine Valley hustled on a hot morning Saturday and received contributions from all around.
Freshmen Jaclyn Sanchez and Emily Guenter won two matches at No. 1 for IVC.
Freshmen Jolie Rasmussen and Barett Nolan at No. 2, freshmen Diamonique Brogan and Chloe Swanson at No. 3 and freshman Sevilla Leuteneker and Gabi Brown each won in straight sets for the Lasers.
IVC plays again next Friday at Riverside. The Lasers take on Riverside and Fullerton.
