The MSJC women's tennis team won a close match on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Antelope Valley 5-4.
Jenna Kent and Lindsay Lemus teamed up in doubles to pull out a 9-7 win that gave the Eagles a 2-1 advantage headed into the singles portion of the competition. In singles it was Lemus in the #2 match and Suizanne Bishton in the #4 match that wrapped up the victory for MSJC. Lemus won her singles match 7-5 and 6-3 while Bishton also won a close one 7-5 and 7-5. Kent, Angelle Esmero and Catherine Gallegos played in the other singles matches for the Eagles, AVC with five players were forced to default the #3 doubles and #6 singles matches.
The win was the first of the season for the Eagles as they improved to 1-2 on the season. The team will play twice this week with a match at Rio Hondo on Tuesday and a home match against Cypress on Thursday. Both matches this week are set for 2 pm.
