Men’s Soccer Match Ends In Scoreless Draw With First-Place Oxnard

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The College of the Canyons men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw against first-place Oxnard College on Friday afternoon in Cougar Stadium. With the tie, Canyons is now 3-4-3 overall and 3-2-1 in Western State Conference play, while Oxnard is 4-5-1 and 3-1-1 in conference.

COC posted its fourth shutout of the year, as the Cougar's defense weathered 20 Condor shots, including nine on goal. The Canyons' keeper, Steven Rodriguez made nine saves on the afternoon.


The Cougars were outshot 20-6, including 11-9 in the first half of play and the Condors had an 8-3 advantage on corners kicks.

Sophomore Angel Sandoval led the Cougars with two shots, while four other players had one shot each.

The Cougars will return to action on Friday, Oct. 11 as they travel to L.A. Mission for a 2:30 p.m. match.
