COD Men’s Basketball rolls past Rio Hondo, 86-77

COD (4-1) enjoyed the large home crowd, bolstered by a community toy drive for Foster Youth and gave them something to cheer about as the Roadrunners scored 51 points in the second half, rolling past the Rio Hondo Roadrunners of Whitter (2-4), 86-77.

In a match-up that featured the vaunted, Roadrunners v. Roadrunners, the team from the Coachella Valley would prove to be victorious.

Freshman guard Devlin Adams (Moreno Valley H.S.) would lead all scorers, scoring 18 of his 23 total points in the second half, on 7 of 14 shooting and going 8 of 12 from the free throw line. Adams would also lead the team in assists with six.

Sophomore guard Joshua Jones (Moreno Valley Valley View) would contribute in a big way, bringing 10 of his 20 points in the first half, on 7 of 10 shooting from the field and grabbing eight total rebounds.

Sophomore guard John Rich (Palm Springs H.S.) scored all 12 of his points in the first half, going 4 for 4 from the free throw line and sophomore forward Kavonte Kinney (Cathedral City H.S.) added eight total boards and two blocks.

Sophomore starting guard Sam Skipper (Perris H.S.) and sophomore guard Sylvester Franklin (Palm Springs H.S.) both added nine points on the night, as Skipper led the team in boards with nine and steals with five.
