Glendale beats West L.A. 41-14 Oct. 15; Artis Cole catches 6 passes for 160 yards, 2 TD

The promise of the 2022 football season was on full display Saturday October 15 in Glendale College's American Division Metro League opener as they led from start to finish to defeat West Los Angeles College 41-14.

Now 1-0 in league play and 3-3 overall, GCC led 17-0 at the half and 38-0 in the third quarter before WLAC scored and rolled up 522 yards of total offense and 28 first downs.

A bye week heading into this game paid dividends according to Interim Head Coach Tanner Farwell

"Two weeks of preparation as a program showed in our performance Saturday,'' said Farwell. "We played a completed game as a team and I'm proud of that.'

Sophomore quarterback Nick Garcia was solid as he passed for three touchdowns completing 28 of 36 attempted and connected with eight different receivers on the day for 384 and had 400 yards of total offense including 16 yards rushing. Artis Cole caught six passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns including a 95-yard strike from Garcia at the 6:34 mark of the third quarter to make it 31-0 Glendale. Nick Johnson added nine catches for 43 yards and one score and Francisco Navarro rushed three times for 33 yards.

Glendale continues league play Saturday Oct. 22 with a 6 pm game at Orange Coast College.
