Softball Nabs a Pair of Victories over MPC and OCC

Bakersfield, CA – The Renegade softball team hosted both Monterey Peninsula College and Orange Coast City College at the Dean and Adah Gay Sports Complex on Saturday and came away with wins to both teams, 10-4 and 7-3 with BC ending the day with a total of four home runs. 

In the first game, Monterey started the scoring drive in the second inning with a home run. BC answered back by scoring on a fielder's choice by Destiny Cuellar, a single by Kylie Havens, and a home run by Marissa Campos (5-1). MPC scored two runs at the top of the third but the Renegades answered back adding two more runs (7-3) in the third and another at the fourth from a home run by Rylee Price. Price tallied another home run scoring two runs in the sixth. Monterey was unable to add runs in the seventh.

In the second game, Bakersfield got their offense started when Cuellar doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. Orange Coast got on the board from a home run in the fourth and added two runs at the fifth (2-3). The Renegades tied the ball game on a fly ball to center field from Shelby Buchanan for Shelbie Valencia to score. Buchanan would end the ball game with a walk-off grand slam. 

They now move to 6-4 on the season and will next play Fresno and Folsom Lake on Saturday, February 19th in Fresno.
