Hawks lose close one to cross town rival ARC

Cosumnes River College fell to ARC BEAVERS on Friday, 63-53, even with Chelsea Shirley scoring 15 points. ARC BEAVERS grabbed the lead against CRC lady HAWKS on a three-pointer from Lindsey Yep in the second period and held on.

Even though Cosumnes River College added 19 points in the final quarter, erasing a 26 point deficit to 4 points in 6 minutes with all freshmen on the court, they failed to seal the win. Both ARC BEAVERS and Cosumnes River College had physical games, with 27 and 28 personal fouls, respectively.

Shirley led the charge for Cosumnes River College's offense, scoring 15 points, with eight points during the fourth period. She also contributed 15 rebounds, three assists and five steals.

Nevaeh Glaindo notched three three-pointers and scored 11 points total. Two other players also added ten or more points for Cosumnes River CollegeTamia Gray had 13 points. Also chipping in for Cosumnes River College were Sarah Hinton (8 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal), Veronica Alejandrez (2 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals), Mekkah Pharr (2 points, 1 rebound, 1 block), and Arionna Butts (2 points, 5 rebounds).

Cosumnes River College finished the game with 48 rebounds (24 offensive / 24 defensive), one block and 12 steals.

The Hawks return home for a two game week in the Hawks Nest. They face off with the #1 team in the state San Joaquin Delta College Mustangs on Tuesday and fellow Los Rios collge Folsom Lake Falcons on Friday. Both games tip off at 7:30pm. Friday's game vs Folsom is the Coaches vs. Cancer event where all money raised will go to the American Cancer Society. WEAR PINK!
