Renegades Secure First Head Coaching Win For Coach Chavez

Bakersfield, CA – After a one-point loss on the road the previous night to Allan Hancock in their first game of the abbreviated 2021 Spring I season, the Renegades hosted the Bulldogs in the Gil Bishop Sports Center Friday night and came away with a 58-48 victory.

From the first points on the board, the Renegades maintained the lead and tempo throughout the first half. At the break they led the Bulldogs by a score of 26-21.

In the second half the Bulldogs never went away, but BC kept their distance well in front. By the final buzzer, the Renegades secured a win in a low-scoring affair in what will go down as the first victory for Interim Head of Basketball Operations Aaron Chavez.

Leading the Renegades was Tyrell Coleman who put up a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Newcomer Tyler Quintana chimed in with 22 points (6 three-pointers) of his own to propel the win.

Next up, the Renegades will travel to play at Cerro Coso College on Thursday (3/18) at 5pm and then return to the Gil Bishop Sports Center the following night to host the Coyotes on Friday (3/19) at 5pm.
