The greatest regular season in the history of GCC Women's Basketball can to a close Friday Feb. 21 as they raced past Citrus College 71-46 on the road to improve to 13-1 as the champs of the WSC South and 26-2 overall.

School records set for the 2019-20 season are as follows:

  • Regular season record of 26-2 breaks the mark of 21 wins from the 2018-19 season 
  • At one point Lady Vaqs won 21 straight games and currently have a five game winning streak 
  • GCC's ranking of tied for No. 3 in Southern California and No. 5 in the state are the highest in school history 
  • In the 71-46 win over Citrus, GCC made a school record 17 three-pointers in 43 attempts to best Citrus by three pointers alone and shot 39.5 percent from that range. 
  • The 2019-20 WSC South title was the second in two years, a school record

After clinching the conference title Wednesday on a three-pointer by Zoe Rouse with five seconds left, it rained three pointers for the Lady Vaqs Friday as Penelopi Trieu and Emily Sisson had five each

Zoe Rouse had four, Tess Oakley-Stilson had two and all-around point guard Vicky Oganyan had one as foiur players scored in double figures. Trieu also led the squad with eight rebounds, Oganyan had seven, and Gloria Bianchi and Jada Aladana had six each. Oganyan and Trieu each had five assists and Aldana had four.

Glendale is seeded No. 4  in the Southern California Regional Playoffs and hosts East L. A. College Saturday Feb. 29 at 7 pm in the Verdugo Gym. The Huskies finished the season at 16-12 and 2-6 in the South Coast North and are seeded No. 13 in the playoffs.
