Vaqueros post second straight sweep

Kate Richardson recorded 12 kills and a .391 hitting percentage and Kenzie Garrison had a double-double on Wednesday night as SBCC posted its second straight women's volleyball sweep with a 25-16, 26-24, 25-15 victory at L.A. Pierce.

The Vaqueros have won four of their last five to improve to 6-10. Pierce falls to 1-7.

Garrison notched her seventh double-double of the year with 11 kills and 14 digs. Jacque Ortegon added seven kills and Jazz Hill had six on a night the Vaqueros won the hitting battle, .288 to .061.

Ashley Albee, a sophomore from Grass Valley, Calif., had a season-high 14 digs.

The Vaqueros open the second round of WSC North play on Friday when they travel to first-place Ventura for a 6 p.m. match. The Pirates (14-3, 4-0) have won nine straight, including a 3-2 decision at SBCC on Oct. 3.
