Chargers End In A Draw, 3-3

CYPRESS, CA - The Cypress Chargers (3-1-1) compete in a close back and forth battle against San Bernardino Valley (1-3-2). The Chargers were held to a 3-3 draw.

Julio Perez led the Chargers offense on Tuesday with six shots, one goal, and three near finishes. Kyle O'Brein put away his first goal of the season on a corner kick by Nomar Ibarra. Seth Ponce scored the first goal of the game in the 10th minute, his second of the season. Ebrina Njie of San Bernardino lead the Wolverines with two goals, both in the second half.

The Chargers opened up the game on the front foot creating most of the chances and getting off six shots compared to Valley's two. Cypress winger, Julio Perez came close in the forth minute with a perfectly timed volley from just outside the box that blazed wide. It didn't take long before the Chargers opened the scoring when Cypress forward, Seth Ponce tapped in a rebound from inside the six yard box in the 10th minute. The Wolverines got themselves back into the game in the 19th minute making it 1-1 when the midfielder, Raymond Fernandez shot from thirty yards out and found the back of the net. The Chargers had an immediate response when defender, Kyle O'Brien headed home a corner from Nomar Ibarra (21'). Cypress continued to pile on the offensive pressure throughout the first half and maintained control of the possession finishing the half tied, 1-1. 

Valley started off the second half strong grabbing the equalizer in the 54th minute to make it 2-2. Once again the Chargers had an immediate response as Cypress forward, Daniel Klebau attacked down the left side crossing it into the box for Julio Perez to put the Chargers atop the scoreboard 3-2. The Wolverines fought back and tied the game 3-3 when forward, Ebrima Njie found the net from inside the eighteen in the 64th minute. Both teams came close late in the second half but the game ended in a draw 3-3.

UP NEXT: The Chargers look to bounce back as they travel to East Los Angles on Friday, September 17th. The game will kick off at 6pm.
