Reedley Baseball Wins Over Gavilan

After starting the 2020 season with a 4-1 record going into a Tuesday rematch with Modesto Junior College, the Reedley College baseball Tigers will be home for three games this weekend.

Coach Steve Pearse' Tigers will host Golden West at 5 pm Thursday, Mission College at 2 pm Friday and Golden West again at noon Saturday. The six-game home stand will continue with games against Sacramento City on Feb. 13 and Gavilan on Feb. 15 before the Central Valley Conference opener with Taft on Feb. 18.

The latest victory came in Gilroy on Thursday as the Tigers downed Gavilan 6-1. Alex Escobar got the win on the mound, allowing only an unearned run in seven innings. Harrison Moy pitched the final two innings.

Jesse Holguin had a pair of doubles and a single to lead the Tiger attack. Marco Galaviz also had three hits and drove in a pair of runs. Alex Escobar allowed only an unearned run in seven innings to get the win.

Matthew Mathis did not allow a base runner over the first four innings to get the win over Modesto. Danny Gamez and Holguin each scored a pair of runs.
