Spartans Dominant in Shutout Win

After dropping a tough 1-2 result at Santa Ana College, the MiraCosta women's soccer team took the field on Tuesday with a renewed sense of purpose.  From the beginning of the match against Orange Coast College the Spartans were dominant.  Goalkeeper Mia Bochis recorded the shut out win with the support of Bri Zepeda, Pierce Wollan, and Grace Velasquez.  The stellar defense kept the Pirates contained for the entire match and only allowed a handful of shots on goal.

The Spartans kept an agressive attack on from the kick off.  The first goal came in the 27th minute when Nicole Sayd gave a tremendous effort, including three shots on goal, and finishing with the ball in the back of the net.  Sayd had multiple defenders surrounding her but no amount of opponents could stop her from scoring.  The second goal came on a beautiful cross from Silje Vigeland that led to a goal by sophomore Jojo Mageo.

The final of the three goals was scored by Silje Vigeland from Alyssa Ozuna.

Although the Spartans were missing three starting players the rest of the team made up for it and secured the victory.

MiraCosta will next be in action on Friday at home against Santa Monica, kick off is at 1PM.
