The Knights lost their first three games of the season, but have responded with wins over Desert, San Bernardino, and now L.A. Mission to improve to 3-3.
Mission got on the board first on Thursday with their lone run coming in the top of the first on a sacrifice fly from Eddie Rodriguez.
San Diego City came back with six runs off seven hits in the bottom half of the first inning. They came out aggressive with five straight hits to start the inning, including a 2-RBI single from Ethan Workinger and an RBI single from Carlos Oquita.
After a double play, Jorge Lucero and Israel Tafolla each doubled in a run, and Tafolla later came around to score City's sixth run on an error.
Mission had two hits in the third inning and nearly scored a run, but shortstop Alejandro Velasco was able to throw out a runner at home to end the inning.
Martinez shut down Mission the rest of the game, allowing just one more hit, as he went on to earn his first win of the season.
The Knights will play a three-game series at Santa Barbara beginning on Friday at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday's games will start at 1 p.m.
