Santa Ana Baseball Rattles Off Three Straight Wins, Set for OEC Play Against IVC on Tuesday

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The No. 2 ranked Santa Ana baseball team rattled off three straight wins as it swept its season series with No. 6 Glendale and rolled past LA Valley in the last week of non-conference play.

Santa Ana was coming off its first loss in just over a month before bouncing back with a 4-2 win against Glendale on Tuesday. SAC leaned on its pitching with Josh Haley and Kyle Hoskins allowing just two runs while striking out seven over nine innings of work.

On Thursday, the Dons snapped out of their hitting slump with a 14 run outburst against LA Valley. After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning, SAC started to get things rolling with a four run second inning and three run fourth. They added seven more in the sixth and seventh innings combined before the game was stopped to due to darkness. James Williams had a huge day at the plate with a three hit, seven RBI day.

Santa Ana finished off the week with an 4-3 extra inning win on the road against Glendale on Saturday. With the score tied at 3-3 in the top of the 12th inning, Micah Pietila-Wiggs led off with triple to centerfield and scored on an error to give the Dons the go ahead run. Emmanuel Niebla picked up his first win of the year as he held the Vaqueros scoreless over the last three innings.

The Dons improved to a record of 15-2 overall and are ranked second in the south in the latest California Community College Baseball Coaches Association poll. Santa Ana is also ranked No. 1 in the state by the JBB in their week six rankings.

UP NEXT: Santa Ana will begin Orange Empire Conference play against No. 13 Irvine Valley on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. IVC is 10-6 overall after defeating Compton 16-0 in its last game.
