After dropping the first set, Citrus College came out fired up in the second to stun the University of Redlands but couldn't come away with the match victory. The Owls fell in four sets (25-22, 21-25, 25-22, 25-16).

With the loss, Citrus drops to 2-5 on the year while UR improves to 3-3.

Delaney Tate led the Owls with a match-high 16 kills and a massive 20 digs to keep Citrus in the fight. Evelyn Enriquez posted 19 digs, followed by Alexis Aguayo's 13 digs in the match. Destiny Gusman got her hands in three blocks, including one solo stuff.

Down 1-0 in the match, the Owls opened the second set on an 8-0 run to explode out in front. Tate sparked the run with a kill after a Bulldog found herself in the net, followed by five-straight attack errors from Redlands. Guzman followed with a kill to force the Bulldogs to call a timeout.

Redlands managed to cut the deficit to seven points, 9-2, but a mini 4-0 run created some separation for the Owls. Tate got the spurt going once again followed by a combo block from Guzman and Faith Evaro.

The Bulldogs put together a scoring spree of their own, rattling off six consecutive points to pull within three, 19-16.

After Redlands managed to cut the deficit down to just one point late in the set, 22-21, three-straight Citrus points sealed the victory for the home team. Desiree Reyes and Kalin Greene each fired off kills before a bad set from the Bulldogs ended the set, tying the match 1-1.

Citrus looked to use momentum from the second into the third and opened with the first three points of the set. Redlands quickly turned things around, however, taking over the lead and then some, 9-4.

The Owls put together a 4-0 run to take the lead back, 11-10, but once again the Bulldogs jumped in front.

Reyes had back-to-back aces to tie things up at 15-15, but the Bulldogs kept their lead and secured the 25-22 victory to take a 2-1 advantage in the match.

Redlands put together its best set in the fourth, committing just two attack errors, while also holding the Owls to a negative hitting clip. It translated into the Bulldogs taking the set 25-16 to walk away with the match win.

Citrus heads to LA Mission for a pair of matches Friday, taking on Mt. San Jacinto at 4:00 p.m., followed by a contest with LA Mission.
