Baseball’s Winning-Streak Snapped by Mt. SAC

The No. 4 Long Beach City College Vikings baseball team fell to the Mt. San Antonio College Mounties 11-2 on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Vikings fall to 17-4 overall and 8-1 in conference action.

Freshman pitcher Matthew Pinal (4-1) took his first loss on the mound with allowing the Mounties to six runs, three earned, on five hits, while striking out four in five innings of work.

The Mounties came out ready to play in the first inning by scoring two runs off Vikings bloopers to take the lead 2-0. In the bottom of the ninth, freshman center fielder Moises Guzman doubled to left field to bring in sophomore right fielder Tyler Vargas to close in on the Mounties 2-1.

Then the Mounties brought the fire and scored four runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to command the Vikings 9-1.

Long Beach put up one more on the board with an RBI double from freshman shortstop Alex Seguine to score in sophomore first baseman Lucas Gonzalez.

The Mounties added two more runs in the top of the ninth and took home the 11-2 win against the Vikings.

The Long Beach City College Vikings will be back in action on Monday, Mar. 9 at Cerritos College at 2:30 p.m.
