El Camino College had three players score double figures in a 63-47 victory over Grossmont in round one of the Cypress Christmas Classic Friday night at Cypress College.
Ashley Nguyen led the Warriors (2-5) with 19 points on 8-for-14 shooting to pace the offense while Alexia Mason (14) and Jessie Hoffsmith (13) also scored in double figures against the Griffins (0-9).
Mason added 11 rebounds while Nguyen led the Warriors with seven assists in the victory.
For the Griffins, Hailey Dominguez led the way with 18 points off the bench while Rian Fullmer added nine points and eight rebounds in the loss.
The Warriors will face Palomar (9-1) in the second round of the tournament after the Comets downed Santa Monica 90-55 in their round one matchup. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
