Rio Hondo College sophomore Fernando Guerrero scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 65th minute to help lead the Roadrunners to a 2-1 non-conference win at Santiago Canyon College in Orange on Wednesday.
The victory snapped a two-game winless streak for the Roadrunners and improved their record to 3-4-2 overall.
Guerrero gave Rio Hondo an early lead, scoring an unassisted goal in the 17th minute. Santiago Canyon got the equalizer 10 minutes later thanks to a goal from Enrique Reynoso.
The two teams went into halftime tied up at 1-1 and the score remained that way all the way until Guerrero put in the eventual game-winning goal off of the assist from Federico Hurtado midway through the second.
Jafet Salgado posted six saves in goal for the Roadrunners to help preserve the victory.
Rio Hondo returns to non-conference action on Friday (Sep. 27) when it hosts Chaffey College at 6 p.m.
