ARC Men’s Tennis Has Battle Against NCAA DIII Opponent UC Santa Cruz

In their sixth match of the season, and their third match against NCAA four-year competition, the Beavers faced off against NCAA DIII powerhouse the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs. ARC was at full-strength for the first time this season and they came out firing on all cylinders. At #1 doubles Stephen Guenard/Younes Kodiji won convincingly by the score of 8-4 over the #1 duo form Santa Cruz, Lucas Chen/Andrew Tjoa. At #3 doubles the ARC team of Micah Erwin/Robin Sharma got a late break and Erwin held serve to close out the match 8-6 against Ryan Gee/David Jackson. In singles four of the six matches went to three sets. At #6 singles Gabe Kinder rolled in the first set, and came back from being down in the second set, to earn the first singles point for the Beavers by the score of 6-2, 7-5 over David Jackson. At #2 singles Stephen Guenard took full control of the match early in the third set and won by the score of 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 over Reini Igna. Beaver players Younes Kodiji (#1), Jack Hall (#4), and Micah Erwin (#5) each lost three-set grind fests to their Slug opponents. "It was an amazing day on the courts with some magical moments and some memories I will never forget." Explained coach, Bo Jabery-Madison. "This match will help us down the road in that we know we can go toe to toe with great competition and it exposed the areas that we can work on to make the necessary improvements in future matches."
