W. Basketball: Eagles Earn 20th Win of the Season at Copper Mountain

The MSJC women's basketball team earned an 86-30 win Saturday afternoon on the road at Copper Mountain, giving them their 20th win of the season. The women's team has now won at least 20 games for 14 straight seasons.

Saturday the Eagles led from start to finish as they built leads after one quarter of 27-6 and held the halftime advantage 51-13.  MSJC used a very balanced offensive attack on the day and dominated the glass as they out rebounded the Fighting Cacti 72-25.  Haylei Janssens just missed a double double as she scored a game high 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.  Deja Blue controlled the game from her point guard position as she did net a double double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, she also dished out a game high 7 assists and had 3 steals.  Kiana Castello also reached double figures in scoring as she added 11 points off the bench.  The Eagles had 35 points in all from non-starters Saturday as Mariah Sanchez added 9 points and Janya Smith had 8.  De'Adra Ross helped control the paint and the glass for MSJC with a game high 14 rebounds and a game best 5 blocked shots.

The win improved the Eagles to 20-2 on the season they are 7-0 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference games, Copper Mountain fell to 3-17, 2-5.

MSJC returns to action on Wednesday night when they host Barstow College in a 5 pm game.  The Eagle men's team will also take on Barstow Wednesday with their game set to begin at 7.
