Streak up to five for baseball team after win at San Bernardino

Irvine Valley's baseball team rallied with eight runs in the final three innings and defeated San Bernardino Valley, 8-2, on the road Tuesday afternoon.

It was the fifth win in a row for the Lasers, who improved their record to 7-5 overall.

San Bernardino Valley led, 8-2, through the first six innings and limited the Lasers to just two hits.

But Irvine Valley got its bats going in the top of the seventh inning. The Lasers put four runs on the board to take the lead for good.

Sophomore shortstop Robert Haw started the scoring with an RBI double. Sophomore catcher Collin Villegas followed with a two-run single to give IVC a 3-2 lead.

And sophomore left fielder Kyle Dobson capped the scoring in the inning for the Lasers with an RBI single to score Villegas.

IVC added to its lead in the top of the eighth inning when freshman right fielder Bradley Wilkison then scored on a wild pitch put Irvine Valley ahead, 5-2.

The Lasers got two more runs on a San Bernardino Valley error to make it 7-2.

And freshman second baseman David Dorado finished off the scoring for Irvine Valley with an RBI single.

Irvine Valley freshman right-handers Connor Neves and Steve Hayden did solid jobs on the mound.

Neves started and went 5.1 innings, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

Hayden came in to the game in relief in the sixth inning and pitched a scoreless final 3.2 innings. He gave up three hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

Irvine Valley plays again on Thursday at San Bernardino Valley at 2 p.m.
